MaxCure Hospitals, Madhapur Organizes 3-K Walk and Flash Mob to Commemorate the End of its Week Long Hepatitis Awareness Campaign

Hyderabad, Aug’ 2, 2015: On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day on July 28, MaxCure Hospitals, Madhapur organized a week-long awareness campaign (July 28 – August 1, 2015) on Hepatitis that included Free Hepatitis Screening Programmes and Camps.

Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver caused by viruses A, B, C, D or E. These viruses can be distinguished depending on the predominant mode of transmission — water or blood — and show significant differences in their epidemiology, presentation, prevention and control.

The hospital concluded its week-long Hepatitis Awareness Campaign with a 3-kilometer Walk and a Flash Mob on 2nd Aug’ 2015 to raise awareness on Hepatitis.

The walk, which started from Maxcure Hospitals, Madhapur (near Cyber Tower, High-tech City) and ended at Raahgiri (Raheja Mindspace road), was flagged off by Dr. Anil Krishna, Dr.Krishna Prasad,Dr.Sameer Diwale and lead by Dr.M. Asha Subba Lakshmi Head Gastroenterology & Hepatology ,Dr.Abdul Wadood Ahmed,Dr.Susmitha Kota…

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Asha Subba Lakshmi said, “Viral hepatitis is the leading cause of liver cancer and is the most common reason for liver transplantation. One million people die each year from chronic viral hepatitis. Many people with chronic viral hepatitis do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected. Symptoms of chronic viral hepatitis can take up to 30 years to develop, and damage to the liver can silently occur during this time.

“An awareness campaign on health screening for early detection can limit disease progression, prevent cancer deaths and help break the cycle of unknowingly transmitting the virus to others” she further added.

Dr. Anil Krishna adds, “This awareness week was a great opportunity for the public to learn more about this disease and who could be at risk. We urge all the residents of Hyderabad to get regular screening and talk to their doctor about Hepatitis and how they can be proactive to prevent and limit its progression. A simple test can prevent a potential health epidemic from developing, saving thousands of lives.”

About Hepatitis awareness 3-K Walk people including the entire staff of Maxcure Hospitals participated in the walk and the subsequent Flash Mob event.
